Friday Question for July 14, 2006

Sorry about missing last week. It was a bad Fourth for me. I'll address that later.

The Question today is:

As a child, did you play/pretend to be any characters in a TV show? If so, what shows did you play?

I greatly enjoyed pretending I was on Battlestar Galactica. I had a friend that had a huge, old, oddly designed house that we would pretend was the spaceship. And Apollo was in love with me.

I would also pretend to be Wonder Woman while wearing paper bracelets to deflect the bullets my brother was shooting at me.

And, I occasionally pretended I lived on Little House on the Prairie in our backyard. We had a huge yard in the middle of corn and soybean fields. My dad would cut up big cardboard boxes or giant wooden crates to look like houses for me to play in. I'd make bread and soup out of all the weeds in the field next door. I thought milkweed pods looked like fish.

I hate my damn job
Humiliate me some more,
please. Mega Millions.

I was actually thinking about this on my drive in today when I passed a grubby looking truck driver. I kind of mostly revoles on movies but also from TV. When I was younger I really wanted to be a trucker. From watching Smokey and the Bandit, BJ and the Bear and Convoy I thought it would be the coolest thing. Driving a truck, getting the ladies, starting bar fights. We used to play truck driver, especially on my grandmothers CB (she was really worried about being stranded if her car broke down) on with my friends CB's. That's also why I've always wanted a basset hound (not a chimp) and why I dug Kris Kristopherson (Convoy) and CW McCall. I used to sing Convoy all the time and others from my friends dad's CW McCall album. This would also probably be where I got my thing for wanting to drink beer that was hard to get, in high school I was always on the look out for Coors. For some reason though I was never into TransAms or Sally Fields, I was always the Snowman type. Ali McGraw was in Convoy too, I liked her.

So plenty of rambling on trucking. I love a Peterbuilt
